The memorial consists of several parts including an armoured gun, a battered aircraft propeller, a memorial bench and memorial stone. The park commemorates the Battle of Arnhem which began on 17 September 1944, and more specifically Dutch lieutenant Jacob Groenewoud who was the commander of the Jedburgh Team ‘Claude’ and was the only Dutch officer to die during the battle.
